Mobile Phone Charging Pre-Pay: Buddhafield 2023

Look no further for a convenient, low-cost way to charge your mobile phone while you wonder around Buddhafield.

How does it work?

We do mobile phone charging at festivals a bit differently. Instead of keeping your phone while we charge it, we lend you a small powerpack. This means you carry on enjoying the festival while your phone charges in your pocket.

We charge a small fee for each pack lent out. We also take a £15 refundable deposit, returned in full when you return the pack.

The powerpacks have a USB socket that fits most charging cables, and have enough power in them to completely charge most phones at least once.

When your phone is charged, return it to us at your leisure. If you need another charge we’ll swap it for another fully-charged powerpack, or return your deposit.

We use high quality, reliable power packs, recharged using clean energy from the sun.

Why prepay?

• saves you money compared with the walk-up rate
• guarantees we’ll have a charged powerpack set-aside for you!

We can get pretty busy and sometimes have to turn people away when we run low on powerpacks. But we’ll always make sure we have enough for our PrePay customers. Pre-paying also helps us plan for events.

Anyone can turn up to our pitch and rent a pack for a £15 returnable deposit and £3 per charge.

FAQ

Do I need my own cable? We recommend you bring your own cable, as there are lots of different types out there, and particularly iPhone cables can be a bit hit and miss. We have a few spares if needed.

Can I have more than one powerpack out at once? Each pre-pay allows you to borrow one powerpack at a time.

When are you open? Most of the day with a few hours off here and there. We write our opening times on a board outside the caravan. You’re welcome to try us between times, but please respect our family’s privacy if the door is shut.

What if I don’t use any or all of the charges? Pre-payments are non-refundable, as we often buy extra power packs to ensure we can meet your needs. We will of course refund the deposit in full assuming we have your powerpack.

Can I keep the powerpack? To keep our environmental impact as small as possible we like to re-charge our Powerpacks as many times as possible – they are designed to be cycled hundreds of times. If you really like the powerpack, or can’t get it back to us, you can hold ontoit and we’ll simply keep your deposit as payment.

A bit about Wild Solar

Wild Solar is a part of Wild Stoves that tours festivals with a mobile solar power station where our vintage 1958 Safari caravan meets cutting-edge solar technology. We also run workshops on solar, combustion and artist-charcoal making.

We have 1kW of PV panels and plenty of stored power in Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries. We power small stages, cafes or lights. At Buddhafield we power a sound system in one of the workshop areas, for music, singing and talks.

We can also charge laptops, cameras, medical devices in-situ. We have 12V and 240V outlets. We’ve even powered hair straighteners. Swing by and see if we can help you, or get in touch beforehand to ask.
