Designed and made for the great outdoors in Canada, the MITI-XL turns the simple log into an ingenious outdoor cooker.
This is the Large version of the MITI for logs 12-14″ diameter. Looking for a smaller one? Take a look at the Miti-001 for a more compact version.
Born out of an ancient cooking tradition in northern Europe stretching back 400 years, this product builds on the ‘Swedish torch’ fire. ‘Miti’ means ‘log’ in Atikamekw Nehirowisiwok (a Quebec first nation’s language).
How does the MITI-XL work?
Simplicity itself. Split a log into 4, place the MITI over the top, brace with its supports, light and cook.
The XL is intended for logs of diameter 12-14″ (30-36cm). The MITI works best with hardwood which burns a bit steadier and longer than softwood (like pines). Make sure the log is situated on solid ground before cooking on it, and site it where it won’t cause too much scorching.
What we think of the MITI-XL
The XL takes the MITI concept up a notch, from a small backpack version in the MITI-001 to this heavier-duty version that will fit on some serious logs! You can get some bigger pots on this, and the size of logs means you’ll get heat for longer.
We’ve long been fans of the ‘Swedish torch’ (or cross-cut log flare) – here’s one in action from an old YouTube clip…
