Designed and made for the great outdoors in Canada, the MITI-001 turns the simple log into an ingenious outdoor cooker.
This is the compact version of the MITI for logs 7-9″ diameter. Looking for a larger one? Take a look at the Miti-XL for beefier logs.
Born out of an ancient cooking tradition in northern Europe stretching back 400 years, it builds on the ‘Swedish torch’ fire. ‘Miti’ means ‘log’ in Atikamekw Nehirowisiwok (a Quebec first nation’s language).
How does the MITI work?
Simplicity itself. Split a log into 4, place the MITI over the top, brace with its supports, light and cook.
What we think of the MITI
We love it. It packs down small, and turns a beautifully simple fire into a practical cooker. It’s suitable for all types of pans and kettles and we use ours at home, at the beach or – best of all – in the woods!
We’ve long been fans of the ‘Swedish torch’ (or cross-cut log flare) – here’s one in action from an old YouTube clip…
