The Envirofit CH5200 Charcoal stove takes all the engineering and efficiency of the smaller stoves in the Envirofit range, in a larger body, with more space for charcoal, and a more intense heat. Developed for low-income countries, this stove burns exceptionally efficiently and cleanly:
- 43% more fuel-efficient than a basic charcoal stove
- 53% higher thermal efficiency (this is a measure of how much heat it gets into the pot or kettle)
- 42% lower carbon monoxide emissions*
The heat-resistant handles also enable you to easily move the stove, even when you are still using it. You can control the temperature and speed of burn by adjusting the lever at the base of the stove that opens and closes the air vent. The vent is used when you are lighting the stove or need a higher temperature. When continuously filled with charcoal, the CH-5200 can burn for over 4 hours without needing to be emptied of ash.
How is this different from a BBQ or normal charcoal brazier?
The short answer is: insulation and air supply. The double-skinned alloy combustion chamber reflects more of the heat back onto the charcoal which increases its temperature and creates a more complete combustion. This also burns up a lot of the carbon monoxide – meaning it’s cleaner – but also releasing yet more heat.
GoGrill BBQ Accessory
The addition of a GoGrill turns this an excellent BBQ and outdoor oven – with controllable heat. It’s not a budget option, but it’s probably the best, most controllable BBQ device I’ve ever used. Gently cooked sausages, hot-sheered steak, roasted veg. It can do it all.
Carbon dioxide warning
* Note, this stove is for outdoor use only, in a well-ventilated space. All charcoal stoves produce carbon monoxide, a deadly, odourless gas. Although this stove produces a lot less than your average BBQ, it is still not safe for use in enlosed spaces or indoors.
