These stoves, handmade in Alaska, are now back in stock for dispatch from here in the UK!
Bushbuddy Stove
The legendary Bushbuddy Stove was designed in Canada many years ago. It has been described as the Rolls Royce of stoves. Fortunately, the original maker has now passed his knowledge onto a small group of craftsmen in Alaska. Therefore, the stoves retain the same spec and hand-crafted quality as the original. The craftsmen started out as the Nomadic Stove company selling the ‘Trekker Stove’, but it is now simply called the Bushbuddy. We are delighted to be UK stockists.
This is our lightest high performance stove, adding just 171g to your kit bag – and without the need to carry any additional fuel. The pot supports inverts to nest inside the body of the stove for compact stowage.
How the Bushbuddy Stove works
The Bushbuddy is one of our range of ‘Woodgas Stoves’. In other words, it features a double-walled combustion chamber that enables a remarkably clean and intense burn. Air is heated in the cavity between the walls, and is drawn into the top of the combustion chamber where it meets the hot smokey gases. The resulting combustion forms a beautiful ring of intense flame. The stove burns very cleanly and with practice and skill it produces almost no smoke.
All you need to do is light a small fire inside the combustion chamber, and keep adding small chunks of wood, twigs and pine cones. The double-wall design controls the combustion carefully, and thanks to its efficiency the stove uses less wood than regular wood stoves.
The Bushbuddy Stove has exceptional heat shielding qualities so you won’t scorch the ground during cooking. However, the stove still becomes too hot to hold comfortably, and we recommend you set it on the ground away from any combustible leaves & materials.
Compatibility with pots, billies and kettles
Many people choose to carry their Bushbuddy nested inside a billy or kettle. Although we don’t stock any compatible pots they are widely available. Some examples of the pots the Bushbuddy fits inside include the TOAKS 115mm pots, Snow Peak 900, Evernew ECA522 Pasta Pot M, Evernew ECA267 (lid will not close, must be set on top and placed in a stuff sack), Evernew ECA402, Evernew ECA265, and the MSR Titan Kettle (lid will not close).

Very solid stove, feels very well made and good quality. It’s smaller than it appears in pics. Burns very nicely and if you do a top-down burn, which you should with this, it burns very cleanly and efficiently. Couldn’t be happier with it, and the Wild Stoves team was a pleasure to deal with, answering questions about the product. Thanks!
My ONLY criticism is that other stoves that are ¼ of the price come with a little drawstring bag, and this comes with nothing. Because it gets sooty/ashy it needs something, so you’ll have to find your own bag.
