Farewell from Wild Stoves

Woodgas stove & bag

After 14 rewarding years, it’s time to say farewell. From humble beginnings packing rocket stoves in a garage in 2010, we’ve gone on to shape the flourishing outdoor cooking sector. We expanded and collaborated; we innovated and adapted.

The landscape of online retail has changed almost beyond recognition. Social media and blogging barely existed when we started out. Specialist knowledge is no longer the main currency online. Corporate marketing budgets have nudged us into oblivion on Google. Our words have been plagiarised, and our products copied. Where we once co-existed and collaborated with other independent outdoor cooking companies, Amazon is now selling stoves alongside toilet brush holders at prices we simply can’t compete with.

I am proud of how we’ve done business. We’ve prioritised quality and durability over profits, made choices that reduced waste and emissions, and used local companies wherever possible. Staff have been paid above-living wages, and our Foundation has supported charities near and far.

I am very grateful to all of you for supporting us over the years. Thank you for choosing to go the extra click to buy from an independent store. For encouraging us with feedback on our products, values and customer service. It’s been a great journey. We are now selling off the remaining stock – this is your last opportunity to buy from our shelves.

Despite everything, I do believe there’s potential for Wild Stoves to thrive in the hands of the right person. If you’re interested, do get in touch.

Good luck with whatever you end up doing, you going will be a big miss for the prepper market, those who know the difference between quality that will last years and the cheaper option that wont.
People will soon realise the mistake of buying cheap tat and by then it is too late for people like you.
    Sad times
