More Information

The Litlbug stoves are ultra compact & lightweight wind-shields and pot-supports designed to contain small fires and effectively direct heat to the pot. Pots can also nestle down into the Littlbug to further ensure fire protection and good thermal transfer.

The Littlbug junior will accomodate smaller cooking pots. Constructed with thin but durable stainless steel, it will burn wood best, but can also be used to house an alcohol/ meths burner (like those in a trangia). The Littlbug provides a stable and versatile cooking platform and is uniquely designed to wrap around a sleeping pad when dismantled for easy storage and transport. The junior model is slightly more expensive than the senior because it is made from thinner steel which is more complex to work. It is just 25% of the weight of its uncle, the Senior.

Supplied with a custom-made pouch made from black, heavy duty, coated broadcloth for long-lasting utility.

Tips

  • In wet and windy conditions you can turn the Littlbug on its side to light a small fire in the wind and rain proof tunnel it creats. Once the fire's going, turn the stove upright with the air holes upwind, and the fire will be largely protected.

What do Wild Stoves think?

Well-made, this junior model is extremely lightweight and would be an asset to any backpack. Once you get the hang of asssembling and dismantling it you come to appreciate what thought has gone into the design.

Note that while this design will make making cooking on wood more efficient and convenient than over an open fire, it is not a gasifier or rocket stove - it's basically a clever enclosure to contain fire, protect it from wind, and hold pots at a good - and protected - distance from the fire. It will also leave a (very small!) scorch-mark so careful placement is required.

Manufacturers

These stoves are manufactired by a social enterprise in the USA. For each stove sold the manufacturers make a donation to the Lake Superior Conservancy and Watershed Council, helping to protect the largest freshwater lake in the world and the watershed that surrounds it.
