Can you also supply the new Stovetec Deluxe 1 & 2 door models with better resistance to daily wear and tear compared with the Mark 1 models you presently stock? If you can supply them, can you tell me something about the price?

At present these are not available in Europe, though we are in conversation with various producers of these stoves in the USA.
The Deluxe models are similar to the rocket stoves we presently stock in terms of efficiency, size and performance. However, they differ as follows:
- metal-lined combustion chamber to decrease wear and tear on the ceramic
- changes to the design of doors and sticks supports to improve usability and lifetime
- much heavier (the wood and charcoal deluxe is 12kg as opposed to around 8 kg for the Mark 1 model)
- design life of 5 years, (as opposed to 3 for those we stock)
Note that we do stock the G3 Rocket stove which also has a design life of 5 years; weighs only 5kg, is similar in size and efficiency and has a metal-alloy combustion chamber.
We hope that in time the Deluxe stoves will become available in Europe. However, the prices are likely to considerably higher than the Mark 1 models, which are:
- Wood: £48 and
In the US the Deluxe models cost:
- Wood: $115 = £75, so likely UK retail around £90.
- Wood-charcoal: $125 = £81, so likely UK retail around £100.
One of the reasons for the price increases is that manufacturers are now subsidising their work in low-income countries with sales in wealthier countries. We fully support this, and see this as a great way of making an impact. We at Wild Stoves already do this ourselves, of course, through the work of the Foundation.
In conclusion, the Deluxe models do bring a number of benefits, and their longevity is impressive. However, the Mark 1 stoves do the same thing and present remarkable value for money - while stocks last!
