Vargo, LittleBug or Wild Woodgas stoves?

Customer questionIMG_2389

'I am considering about buying a wood stove : I saw that you sell both the Wild Woodgas Stove and the Vargo Titanium Hexagon wood stove : could you please tell me the main differences, in termes of use and efficiency?'

Wild Stoves Tech Support response

The wood gas stove is a high-efficiency burner using primary and secondary air to ensure more complete combustion (i.e. less smoke and gases, more heat) than an open fire.

The Vargo Titanium, like other surviva stoves, is a convenient pot support that provides the fire with some wind-proofing and directs heat towards the pot bottom. It is also a high quality piece of kit.

So the WGS is an 'improved burner' whereas the Hex is really just a convenience improvement over an open fire, though you are likely to see minor improvements in performance from its use.

Customer follow up questions

I have a MSR pot that should fit. Aside of this, I have a Klean Kanteen stainless bottle (http://www.kleankanteen.com/eu/products/klean-kanteen-wide.php). It is 89mm wide at the base. If ever I need to boild something directly in my bottle, do you see a way to put it on the stove?

Compared to the LittleBug Junior (http://wildstoves.co.uk/lightweight-stoves), which one would do prefer?

Wild Stoves Tech Support response

The MSR 1100 pot will fit the WGS inside it.

89mm is borderline too small for the pot supports on the Wild WGS, though you may be able to use it with this occasionally, though you won't enjoy its best stability.

The LittlBug is the same in performance and function to the Hex stove, so no improved burn, just a convenient and compact fir enclusure and pot support. The Hex folds down flat, the LittlBug folds down into a curve.

Personally, I'd always go for a rocket stove or wood gas stove everytime as I love efficient combustion - the best way to make the most of wood!
